The origins of German Expressionism. The title Expressionismus & Expressionismi refers to the major exhibition on Futurism, entitled Futurismo & Futurism, which was held in Venice in 1986. Similarly, Expressionismus & Expressionismi illustrates the diversity of the origins of German Expressionism, often perceived as monolithic, but nevertheless composed of two diametrically opposed approaches between the Brücke and Der Blaue Reiter. The exhibition presents around one hundred and fifty works about these two distinct, but representative, streams of German Expressionism. Also in the spirit of dialogue between the arts, the Pinacothèque de Paris invites visitors to discover critical and conflicting nuances by comparing artists and artworks.
