Joan of Arc rises from the ashes in Rouen. As happens each year, there will be a festival in Rouen to celebrate the memory of Joan of Arc, burned at the stake by the English in 1431 in Vieux-Marché square.Over a weekend, the city is dressed in blue and white in homage to the "Pucelle" (Maid of Orleans) and goes back in time to the 15th century to become the stage for a popular mediaeval festival, in which history has the leading role. For two days, in between the official ceremonies, artists will recreate entertainment and games from the mediaeval era: skittles, jeu du renard et des oies ("fox and geese" board game, like draughts), embroidery, jesters and puppets, crossbow shooting, tournaments, fencing, fortune-tellers, etc.
