A vision of Laos.Marc Leguay stepped onto Lao soil in the late 30s and established himself on the island of Som before moving to Vientiane, the capital. Enchanted by the beautiful landscapes and riverbanks around the Mekong, the artist took to painting natural scenes (landscapes, still life) before moving onto the everyday lives of locals, their habits, customs and mundane realities. Leguay was an art teacher and an accomplished artist, one who managed to capture the soul of the people of Laos unlike any Western painter before or since.
