Lords of misrule. Most cultures depict opposing forces that compete for the world in a necessary struggle without end. Theogonies, myths and festivals organise the understanding and continuation of the struggle of these great cosmic principles. The exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris places the spotlight on the figureheads of disorder such as gods and spirits like Dionysus, Seth Typhon, the Pale Fox, Exu and so on.The exhibition presents the characteristics of these spirits' allies (intercessors), the persistent attempts at conjuration, or use of such forces in our secular societies.Curator: Jean de Loisy, assisted by Sandra Adam-Couralet
