The First World war comes to life.The First World War is preserved forever at the Museum of the Great War, in the Meaux area.On 17th April 2010, Frédéric Mitterrand (minister of Culture and of Communication) and Jean-François Copé (president of the urban Community of the Meaux area) laid the founding stones of the architectural project designed by Christophe Lab, right beside the American Monument.The museum of the Great War houses an important collection of objects, arms, posters, costumes, archives, photographs, drawings and so on which date from the First World War. This collection of 50 000 objects and documents belonged to Jean-Pierre Vernet, a specialist on the First World War.Sur 7 000 m², the museum offers permanent exhibition spaces, temporary exhibitions, a documentation centre, eductional rooms, an auditorium, a café and a shop. The building also boasts a roof-terrace, which offers a superb 360° view.
