From Deauville to Cowes.The Cowes-Deauville race is a traditional, large-scale, cross-Channel race which began in 1962. A joint effort by the London Royal Yacht Club, the Southern Yacht Club and the Deauville Yacht Club, this race brings together around fifty British and French teams each year.Deauville's yachtsmen have made it a tradition to sail over to Cowes on theIsle of Wight on the Solent - the straight which separates the island from the rest of England - for the start of the regatta, which is traditionally held on the Friday at 7pm.
