Brocéliande forest, though imaginary, has been the subject of a great deal of attention and inspired many an author. Brocéliande, situated about 30km from Rennes, is the mythical appellation of what is in fact a very real forest, the Paimpont forest near the commune bearing the same name. You might encounter one or more ghosts of the knights of the round table erring throughout these dark woods -- visitors half-expect Lancelot himself to come charging out of the ominously named Val sans Retour, or "Vale of No Return"… The rich aura of mythology is enchanting, hypnotic even, falling upon visitors like a faerie's spell.
