Gorges du Tarn

The Tarn Gorges are thirty-mile-long canyons formed by the River Tarn in the south of France. They’re amongst the biggest (1,500 ft deep and 4,900 ft wide), and most beautiful, in all of Europe.

The gorges run between Florac in the west and Le Rozier in the east. The route is dotted with "picture postcard" villages and chateau, caves and grottos as well as viewing points for stopping and admiring the scenery, perhaps with a picnic.
Given the area’s Mediterranean climate of mild winters and hot summers, the gorges are a popular site for hiking, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing and other outdoor sports and leisure activities.
