It was Jean le Breton, who had overseen the construction of the famed Chambord château, who commissioned the building of the Villesavin château. The artists and workers on the site were those responsible for the edification of royal castles, thus this construction reflects the best skills and know how of that era and on the whole has been remarkably preserved. Additionally, the château boasts other major attractions. The Marriage museum, for example, retraces the history of wedding ceremonies and nuptial rituals through a collection of 1 500 historic artefacts. There is even a reconstitution of a traditional 19th-century wedding. The museum also boasts a collection of horse-drawn carriages.
