Since 1910, the Oceanographic Museum of Monacofounded by Prince Albert I of Monaco has revealed the mystery of the sea and ocean to visitors. Its collections explore both the marvels of natural history (shells, shellfish, fish and many other inhabitants of the saltwater setting) and the art of navigation and scientific expeditions.Collections also include artistic representations of the marine environment and creations based on sea objects serving an aesthetic purpose (mother-of-pearl ornaments, painted shells) and ethnographic prints.Additionally, theAquariumand its 90 pools allow the public direct contact with water and deep-sea creatures.
