What to do in Franfurt?

A weekend in Frankfurt
Week-long trip to Frankfurt
Family trip to Frankfurt
Around 120 miles from Strasbourg, Francfort-sur-le-Main is known for being a business destination. However, the city is worth a closer look. Put down your bags in your hotel room and set off to explore the most beautiful sites. For a weekend, you have the time to visit Römerberg, the heart of the city. The cathedral of coronations and the house of Goethe, author of Faust, are also not to be missed. Between trips, do as the Germans do: share a sociable moment around a glass of beer or cider.
A one-week stay will give you the time to discover Frankfurt more intimately. Take a walk from the city center to the port. Timber-framed houses and futuristic buildings create a surprising contrast, not lacking in charm. You can also enjoy an outing in the many museums of the city, located on the bank… and many museums. Art and architecture are the stars of the show here. What will be the highlight of your trip? Amazing panoramas to admire at the top of the skyscrapers. Coming back from your outings, relax in the comfortable hotel room of your affordable hotel.
Family vacations in Frankfurt? Starting from your hotel, a multitude of activities for children and adults are possible. Strolls in the heart of the city and along the Main, of course, but so much more as well. Enjoy the open air at Günthersburgpark, the Palmengarten botanical gardens, and at the zoo. If there is no sunshine, head to the superb natural history museum or the Kindermuseum. The latter offers children the opportunity to understand the world. The exhibitions and workshops there are both fun and engaging.

A gourmet stay in Germany

Work up your appetite starting from the breakfast served at your hotel. For your lunches and dinners, you can try the local specialties. The unbeatable Wurst, or smoked sausage, is enjoyed with all the sauces and is most often served with potatoes and sauerkraut. Also very typical is grüne soße, a sauce with seven herbs, to be enjoyed with hard-boiled eggs. Many Germans drink beer with their meals. In Frankfurt, beer competes with cider or Apfelwein. For desserts, the Frankfurt Crown Cake delights with its almond flavor.

Unmissable events

A vibrant city, Frankfurt has a packed calendar of events. The festivities kick off in the most beautiful way with the carnival in February. In the spring, you will find the sparkling Luminale. This event, which takes place every two years, allows visitors to explore the city through lighting designs. May welcomes the famous Night of Museums, which takes place throughout Europe. Taking place this month is also the Green Sauce Festival, a true icon of Frankfurt’s gourmet cuisine. In the summer and fall, it’s time for culture with Museumsuferfest, the Book Fair, and Deutsches Jazzfestival.

Anecdote about Frankfurt

Bombed during World War II, Frankfurt saw many of its old structures destroyed. It wasn’t until the 1980s that its city center, Römerberg, underwent a nearly identical reconstruction, thanks to historical documents. Although these monuments are not the original ones, they are a beautiful representation of what the main square was before the war. These include the Fountain of Justice and the six timber-framed medieval houses facing the city hall.
