Did you know?
Slightly curious about the town’s name, Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes? It’s actually named after a hermit, Saint Thibault, who was canonized here in the late 11th century. The relics of the saint have been preserved in the Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which was originally called the Église Saint-Thibault. But what about the “des vignes”? Long ago, vines grew in Seine-et-Marne. After the Church was abandoned during the French Revolution, the name ‘Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes’ was swapped for ‘La Côte-des-Vignes’.
