A strange tale about Liège

This mascot is called Tchantchès (sometimes spelled Tchantchèt), a legendary figure in local folklore played by a puppet. He’s the very essence of a stereotypical Liège-born man: stubborn, rebellious, and fond of a drink. Tchantchès was also saddled with a wife called Nanesse, who is well-known for her strong-willed temperament.
